Obviously, you want to say NO to losing opportunities. Although, the opposite happens more than you realize.
But why would you ever say NO to a good new product opportunity?
When a good new product idea comes in and your team is already loaded at an optimum level, adding an additional project will delay some, if not all, of your existing projects.
Simple math – Add a fifth project when your team can ideally handle four and waiting time will slow all of them down by 25%. More complex math – multitasking will make the work less effective and slow them down by another 50% – Ouch!
